Game Time!

Find some small toy dinosaurs and use them on a gameboard. The little dinosaurs are "lost" at the end of the path, and the big dinosaurs have to travel down the path to find them and bring them home.

Use a spinner or some dice to move the big dinosaurs down the path. Before each spin, choose a speech target word to practice!

Narrative Language: Who is the story about? What do they want to do? What do they try first? How do they finally get to do it? Retell/act out the story!

Extended Vocabulary:

--Big vs little: sorting dinosaur toys or other small objects,

--Dinosaur names/types/what they eat

--Descriptive words (adjectives): draw or give three clues about one of the dinosaurs, while another person guesses or asks questions to figure out which dinosaur you chose.

Prepositions:

In the story, the dinosaurs travel up and down and over several places. Use your toy dinosaurs to hide or travel around the room or over obstacles, using prepositions to talk about locations.

Literacy:

Find the verbs and look for suffixes: ing, ed. Were any of the drop it/double it/change it rules applied?

How can you tell if a character is talking? Practice reading like a play with different people reading different characters

Home Connection Ideas:

These dinosaur friends had fun playing and pretending with each other. What do you like to do with your friends?

Pretend you are pterodactyls and fly around the room. Can you give your toys a lift back to where they belong?
